All in a Day's Work

Ben

ben in the snowBen came in to the shelter in June last year as, sadly, his owner had died. He did not enjoy being in a pen and became aggressive. After two months he was let out to explore the grounds and was very happy with this arrangement, but still not too friendly. In November he decided the staff weren't too bad and moved into the kitchen with the Shelter's resident cat Lucy. From that day Ben has been a loyal, loving cat and very friendly to all who visited us. He had been on the web site for eight months with no success in getting a home, but on 22 March Ben bagged himself a new home in Peebles and is settling in very well.

Peter and Frostie

Peter and FrostiePeter and Frostie were adopted from Lothian Cat Rescue nine years ago but, due to a change in their lifestyle, they were brought back to be rehomed. Because they are now twelve years old, the staff thought they might be at the shelter for quite a long time as a lot of people looking to adopt a cat don't want older cats, and so the boys were given the chance to go out in the grounds. Frostie immediately took the opportunity to explore but Peter decided the door of the pen was far enough. An elderly came into the Shelter and decided to take Peter home as she was looking for a quiet cat who wouldn't wander too far. Unfortunately Frostie was left on his own in the pen but, two days later, a lady came in looking for an older cat and, after meeting Frostie, adopted him and took him home that day. We were all very happy that two older cats had found new homes in a short time. However, we still have more older cats that are being overlooked because of their age, waiting for their new homes.

Nelson

Nelson the catNelson came in to us several months ago as a stray. He was a large tabby and white cat with the biggest head ever! He was very scared and wet himself every time he was picked up. He had a problem with his eye, where the eyelid rolled in and the lashes irritated his eye, causing an infection. After a small operation his eye was much better and Nelson started to respond to the staff more and more each day. A lovely couple came in after seeing Nelson on the web site and totally fell in love with him, so he is now going to live with his new owners and their ten year old cat. So, fingers crossed that everything goes to plan in his new home.
