Stars of LCR

This page is dedicated to the cats who through us, and thanks to you, have found a new and happy life. Scroll down to see photos of these very happy cats.

Pepsi the catRoz & George adopted Pepsi late May 2011 and now couldn't imagine life without her. "She is a quirky loveable character that has us wrapped around her paw! Tho still a little timid of strangers, she is super affectionate with us, choosing to sleep on us or hogging the bed more than any of the expensive cat beds we have bought her! She is obsessed with climbing ladders and the bathroom taps. She is our furry black shadow that follows us everywhere and gives us the best welcome home every night. We adore her so much. Thanks for all the great work you do!"

Anne recently adopted Molly the cat Lauren, now named Molly. "I took her in December to my home in West Linton. She cuddles into this toy cat in her basket. She has settled in really well and is a lovely wee cat in every way."

Big Boy & Stumpy, two very content cats

Jean adopted her brother and sister cats, who were known as Maddy and Pebbles, in April last year. "We thought you might like to see how they were getting on. We now call them Big Boy and Stumpy (he's HUGE and she's tiny with hardly any tail!) It has taken them a wee while to really settle in as I think they had been town cats and had been more used to buses than tractors and horses passing their window. But now they love playing in the woods and bringing home little 'presents' to leave on the rug. They are both lovely friendly cats who like a cuddle with us humans but not with one another so it's been quite difficult to get them both in the same photo! I think they've got us licked into shape, we keep the stove burning and the Whiskas on tap. We love having them share our life."

Rusty the cat

Dawn sent a photo of Rusty who they adopted at the end of November. "This is of him 'helping' me wrap xmas parcels! Thankfully my hubby is an animal lover too as he's lost a large portion of his bed to Rusty who curls up between us at night! Rusty settled in very quickly and easily into our family. He's just a perfect boy who is affectionate, playful, chatty and great fun to have around. He is always with me during the day and then gives my son and hubby a great welcome when they get home. He gets on fine with our dog and quickly became the Boss around the house. He spends a lot of time birdwatching from the window sills so I think he'll head out shortly. We are so grateful to LCR for the amazing work they do and for letting us adopt Rusty, who we all absolutely adore."

Cyd the cat"Thought you might like to see how Cyd is settling in. What a lovely boy he is."

Mr Boo the cat

Alan & Rhonda adopted Mr Boo recently. "Mr Boo is well settled in and a joy to have. He is so friendly and relaxed. He's venturing out into the garden and enjoys tree climbing!! Ella and Lily are delighted with him and as you can see from the picture, all is very well. Monty the dog's nose is still out of joint, but as we keep saying to him, look after Mr Boo and he'll look after you!!"

Lilly the catDianne has sent an update on how Lilly is doing. "She is looking really good, put weight on, likes her food! She still likes to be petted and brushed which is good for her coat. She's very playful and has lots of toys to play with, Santa was good to her, think she'll be a bit of a hunter. She sits up beside me when I'm watching telly and when it's bed time she can't get through to the bed quick enough, we have a little game of 'catch the toes' and then settle down, she snuggles in next to my legs. I feel I've had her much longer than 2 months, she's very much part of the family."

Daisy the cat

Tertia & David collected Kiki on 30 December, but have renamed her Daisy. "Many thanks indeed to Dean for all his help when we came to look around - his advice was much appreciated. Daisy has settled in well and has quickly made herself at home. We took her to the vet yesterday and she got a very good report. She is a lovely, loving cat who just loves attention. Many thanks to LCR for all their help."

Psyche & Warfare, two adventurous kittens

Edith has sent some pictures of the '2 x trouble' she took home on 18 November - two wee girls. "We've called them Psyche and Warfare. They've had their vaccinations - which they didn't notice, they were too busy eating the cat treats the vet gave them! He says they're thriving, in perfect condition and already the size of some 6 month old kittens he's seen although they're just over three months old - so we think they're going to be big. They've taken over the house, though it took them a while to find their way round it all. Warfare is the more adventurous of the two when it comes to climbing, exploring and trying out new things, though Psyche's never far behind. We've had to have a very small Christmas tree on a very high shelf this year as when we tried putting up the regular one the kittens thought it was a jungle gym and climbed to the top in no time! They've both got wonderful little engine-like purrs, and like to be petted by anyone and to sit on my husband Matthew - he's the one at home during the day."

Milly the cat

Philippa thought we might like to see a couple of pictures of Milly in her new home. "They're pretty poor I'm afraid - we had to take them without flash as she hates it!. She's settling in really well, is eating well, loves to play 'string' or 'screwed up receipt football', but hates actual cat toys. She also seems to have made friends with a spider plant that she especially loves to sit beside, rub herself against (including the leaves) and purr to."

Molly the cat

Paul & Liz adopted Molly from LCR 2 years ago this month (how time flies!!) and she has been an absolute joy to behold. "She gets on really well with (i.e. bosses) our 3 spaniels and existing cat, and is such a social wee thing we wonder if she thinks she's an honorary springer! We were lucky enough to catch her last night in one of her favourite sleeping places, which we always suspected but never had the proof! We hope it made you smile as much as it did us! Thanks again for such a wonderful companion and keep uo the good work."

Cauldron the cat

This is Sasha's lovely and adorable cat Cauldron. "He is a black cat with green/yellow eyes. He loves chicken and cat nip but he loves BACON the most. He loves to sleep throughout the day and he loves to run around and to be played with through the night. He is waiting for his chicken in this photo; you can tell because he brings out his cute big green eyes and he is sitting down nicely!"

Oscar the cat

It's now been a year since Moira took this furry little one home. "I just wanted to let you know how well he is doing. You would have known him as Luca but we renamed him Oscar. He has settled in so well and is such a lap cat now who enjoys a life of luxury and he shadows us wherever we go (can't even have a bath in peace bless him). I think secretly in hope of more food although the vet told us he was a little chubby!! He doesn't tend to go very far from the back garden which is great and has made friends with a little look alike cat called Cheryl!!"

Amy the catNicola & Mike sent a photo of Amy who they re-homed a few months ago. "She's settled in to her new home and has certainly found her favourite spots to lounge! She's a super little cat and we feel very lucky to have her. Thanks so much to Nicky for all her help."

Finlay the cat

"Hello everyone, it's Finlay here! Just thought I'd let all of my old pals at the Lothian Cat Rescue Centre know what I've been up to since you last saw me, as I figured that you would all have been missing me. Well I've been living in the Musselburgh area, in quite a nice, big house there. The house is warm and comfortable, with lots of food and water, and also lots of toys for me to play with. There's also lots of nooks and crannies there for me to sleep and hide in. I also like to spend time looking out of the various windows there, and the outdoors looks very interesting indeed - I may pop out to investigate sometime, when I get round to it. The house also has a couple of servants living there. They both seem quite nice people, and they have only required the minimum of training so far really. The female one is a very soft touch, and feeds me quite a lot, and I also quite enjoy attacking the male one from time to time, just to keep him in his place of course. All in all, I'm doing pretty well really, and think I'll stay put where I am - I'm even going to let the servants stay too. Oh, and as my servants seem to be obsessed with taking my photo (understandable of course), I've attached a sample of them for you to see. I hope all is well with you all back at the centre, and that all my old playmates are as happy as I've become."

Tilly the cat

Here's a photo of Alona (now Tilly) who was adopted a few weeks ago.

Flora the cat

Angela & Steve wanted to let us know that Flora (formerly Kitty) has settled into her new home really well - far better than expected!! "You would think she'd always lived here as she's really made herself at home in the 2 days that she's been with us! She is absolutely gorgeous and is so loving, friendly and affectionate. Her favourite pastimes are playing with the dangly goldfish and relaxing in the sun (as you'll see in the photo)!!! As I'm typing this, she is curled up in her bed which is by the computer on the desk - she seems to like to be with me wherever I am in the house! Bless her! Thanks LCR! Keep up the good work."

Ellie the cat

Dawn adopted their cat Ellie from the shelter over 7 years ago. "She was a beautiful black elegant lady! Sadly she left us a few days after Christmas, leaving a furry shaped hole in our family. The vet said that she was about 18/19 years so she had a long life and was a perfect pet when our children came along. My son has asked if we can get a kitten but with a daughter who is just past 1, I think it may be hard work!!! I have however told him about the shelter and promised to bring him out when the February school holidays start to see if we can find our new furry family member. I looked forward to visiting the shelter in the next few weeks. The photo attachment was taken a few years ago!"
