At Lothian Cat Rescue in 2008 247 mother cats and kittens were cared for by fosterers.
Below are some of our success stories!

'K' picked up two kittens on 23 January. "As you can see Henry and Hugo have settled well into our household. They have been to the vet at Loanhead - no probs. Worst part was the car journey! They are now greatly enjoying the garden during the day but don't go far. They have made the acquaintance of the dog next door and seem to get on reasonably well! We are very much enjoying them and it's hard to believe it's only been a few weeks. Thanks again for your work."

'F' & 'M' adopted 2 kittens, Tinto (tabby) and Kiwi (black) at the end of September 09 (when they were known as Toby and Sinbad). "They were 9 weeks old when we got them and are now healthy, active 6 month old brothers. Kiwi is the more adventurous and daring, with Tinto being more thoughtful about things. They both love being outdoors, exploring and running around in our garden but are also happy to cuddle up in our laps or nestle in at our necks in bed. I don't think I've heard purring so loud! We look forward to watching them grow up - but maybe not so much to the little 'gifts' they may bring back to us from their outdoor adventures!"

'L' & 'C' adopted two beautiful silver tabbies recently from LCR. "The wee girl is call Willow and the boy Zander. They are doing wonderfully and everyone has fallen in love with them. At the moment they spend most of the day climbing up and down the christmas tree, God knows how they haven't managed to topple it yet! They are also eating us out of house and home, jumping on our heads at night-time but we wouldn't be without them."

Our mummy and daddy picked us up on 18th October 2009. When we got home we started nosing around our new home and ran riot! We eat everything, including mummy's dinner; she wasnt looking and I jumped into the middle of it!! She was cross, but then she laughed and laughed. We eat Whiskas Kitten food and get kitten Iams to help our teeth stay strong and healthy and we drink lots of water from a crystal bowl! Very posh! We go out for walks in the garden, we have a blue and pink harness to wear, but we dont really like being out yet cos its too cold on the grass!! Mummy says wait till next year, when it'll be sunny and warm, we'll be in the garden all day!! We went to the vet's today for the first time and got our vaccinations - ouch, but Aileen was very nice, and said we are very healthy and a good weight. Mummy says we are making them happy and lets us sleep on their bed, its so cosy! We want to thank you for looking after us, and we want to thank mummy and daddy for giving us our forever home.

'L', 'H' and 'A' homed 2 lovely kittens 5 weeks ago. They were featured on our kitten page as 'Paulie and Perry' but their daughter has now named them Benjamin and Elliot.
"They are lovely kittens with great personalties and have really settled in well. They love to play with their toys and on their 'house' and really know how to enjoy themselves. There are cat toys everywhere. They are growing very quickly, it is lovely to see and hear them running all over the place and keeping us amused."
Kevin and Keith have now found a loving forever home. Good luck, boys!
As kittens, both Katie & Greta had a severe malformation to their back left leg, so the Vet decided that the malformed leg should be removed when they reached the age of around 6 months.
They recovered well from their surgery and these two beautiful, affectionate cats have now got a home of their own.

'J' & 'S' recently adopted two kittens known as 'Levi' and 'Charlie'. "They are now called 'Maxx' and 'Monty' and are doing really well together. Monty is the boss but there has never been any major fight. They are eating us out of house and home and are going to be BIG cats. The boys love Christmas decorations and spend a lot of time under the tree with the baubbles and lights. Our four grandchildren are becoming good friends but they are still reluctant to sit on a knee for any length of time."

On 31 October - Hallowe'en- Charlie and CC went to live with 'J' and 'P' in Linlithgow. "Charlie, a torty/tabby, has been renamed Pumpkin because the colour of her eyes and the orange/gold patches on her fur are pumpkin coloured. CC has become SiSi and has proved to be the diva of the pair! Pumpkin is more careful and waits to see. Yesterday, the girls went to the vet and were vaccinated and chipped. They did not enjoy it. Sisi recovered and went round the surgery to see what there might be to chase, Pumpkin went back into the cat box, having drawn blood in an attempt to escape. They are both desperate to try the great outdoors but it is too early yet. Nor have they met the grandchildren ... now that will be a test of nerves for all concerned! They have settled in well and seem quite happy to be with us, as you can see from the picture above.

'R' adopted two kittens, Webster and Wolfie, a few weeks ago. "They've now been renamed Alfie (light one) and Charlie (the dark one), although we're still having problems telling them apart. They're still a bit timid but within a couple of days had the run of the house and have made themselves at home - Alfie likes sleeping on my lap at nights and Charlie seems to enjoy hunting spiders. They've even managed to charm the vet, both being on perfect behaviour when they went for their jabs."
In January, four sturdy kittens were found, two females and two males. They were handsome kittens, three tabbies and a grey but unfortunately, although not feral and in very good condition, they had not been socialised and panicked if handled. The kittens were split between two fosterers to allow more time to be spent on each of them.
It was a very slow process but all gradually improved and the girls have been homed to an adult, quiet household where they have settled well. Hamish and Duncan (above), two confident and very loving kittens, were eventually adopted by their fosterers.
'A' & 'S' adopted Barney and Oscar a few weeks ago. "Both boys have settled in so well, they are eating very well and growing quickly. They both love playing together, chasing each other up and down the stairs and in and out of all the rooms.
They get lots of visitors and are extremely confident, nothing unsettles them! They have now had their first vaccinations and are registered with our local vet. The house is in constant chaos, toy mice, ping pong balls and balls of silver paper eveywhere you turn and it is just wonderful!
We still miss Micki and Chester, our old cats, very much, but we both agree its such a joy to have 2 kittens around again. We are so pleased to be able to give Barney & Oscar a loving and fun home."

Thomas and his friend Herbie have now found a loving home where they can chase each other and play to their hearts' content! See them on our Star Cats page.
Jamie and Mungo have now got a very special home of their own with a wonderful new mum and dad. They live on an estate with countryside in every direction.
Their very happy foster-mum says, "I could not wish for a better home for my two wee special boys."
